EvaluationMany children in Kentucky receive their autism spectrum
diagnosis from the Weiskoff Center in Louisville.
Weiskoff Center for the Evaluation of Children
There are many evaluation tools for the autism spectrum.
I find the
DSM-IV diagnostic criteria useful
(200 dpi scan),
but Dr. Tony Attwood noted at the ASA 2002 conference that
different evaluation tools are often used in other countries.
The Autism Biomedical Information Network
has a good list of
screening and diagnosis references for Pediatricians.
I wish every pediatrician was familar with the
Checklist for Autism in Toddlers (CHAT).
This tool might make them less hesitant to refer children for evaluation.
